Photocopied newspaper clipping from the Tulsa Tribune, 1943. The clipping features three photographs of the winning pieces from the Tribune Sewing Contest being modeled in a style show at the YWCA ballroom. The caption underneath the photos introduces the winning designers and describes their designs. Betty Faye Barnes (left) created two winning junior designs and received $75 in war bonds. Ruth Imogene Beals Burnett created a khaki rayon gaberdine work suit along with a hat, snood, and shoulder bag (modeled by her sister Mrs. Robert Hyde, Jr.). She won a trip to New York and $200.00 dollars in war bonds. Jean Couch (right) won a $10 war stamp for a gingham suit and bonnet. |
