Picture postcard measuring 3.5" x 5.5" and depicting the ten-story McBirney Building, located at 8 East 3rd Street in downtown Tulsa, OK. The McBirney Investment Company financed the construction, which began 1927 and cost about $800,000. J. H. McBirney, president of the National Bank of Commerce, was the president of the McBirney Investment Company. Architect E. W. Sippel designed the building in the Gothic architectural style with an exterior of buff-colored terracotta. From 1970 to 1974, the building was called the Plaza Building. In 1975, it became known as the Parker Building. The Oklahoma News Company produced the postcard. It bears a Tulsa postmark of April 18, 1929. Sidney Windfield "Sid" Patterson of Tulsa, OK, sent the postcard to his father, Nathan Russell Patterson, in Washington, DC. Nathan Patterson was the president of Paterson Steel Company of Tulsa, OK. |
