Newspaper clipping from the Tulsa Daily World published June 25, 1921 and entitled "Red Cross Nurse Goes Home; Work Organized." This article reported upon the departure from Tulsa, OK, of Rosalind McKay. In the days following the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, McKay supervised the Red Cross hospital and nursing services. She disclosed a week after the disaster, that 4,851 families were affected and that 531 were in need of a doctor or nurse. Upon McKay's return to her home in Oklahoma City, OK, Mrs. M. H. Godfrey, public health nurse of the Tulsa County Chapter of the Red Cross, took charge. The article also states that Miss Bessie Richardson is in charge of field nursing services. |
