Accounting book published in 1897 by Charles W. Miller of Washington, DC. The book contains page blanks for balancing the assets of a fourth-class U.S. Post Office. This account ledger was used by Tulsa Postmaster John H. McAllister from January 1, 1898 to September 30, 1898. McAllister became postmaster on December 5, 1895 and he served until November 21, 1898. The ledger includes three sections including the following: a quarterly stamp reconciliation, a record of post office box rents, and unclaimed mail list. McAllister used only the first section for stamp reconciliation. The inside front cover contains three loose-leaf pages that date after McAllister's time as Postmaster. They include a hand-written financial account for the years 1904 and 1905. John D. Seaman was Postmaster at that time. The two other loose-leaf pages contains pre-printed blanks for reconciliation of stamps on hand. |
