Meeting minutes of the Women's Civil League of Tulsa beginning April 14, 1920 and ending with the minutes of July 11, 1921. Lilah D. Lindsey served as the organization's president during this time period. The minutes of June 6, 1921, mention the Tulsa Race Massacre in three separate paragraphs. The minutes state that "Mrs. Grommett had all the equipment of the Community Kitchen at 510 N. Main St. using it temporarily at the hospital kitchen for the colored people." Another paragraph states, "Miss McGlenn reported that the colored library had been completely destroyed during the race riot; that 2,500 volumes had been burned." The third mention of the Race Massacre occurs in the minutes in the sentence, "The W. C. L. also went on record for helping in the work of caring for the colored destitutes." |
