Newspaper clipping from the Tulsa Daily World published August 20, 1921 and entitled "To Build Negro Hospital; Red Cross to Erect Institution to Care for Victims of Riot." This article reports upon plans to construct a hospital for African Americans in Tulsa, OK, at the corner of East Easton Street and North Greenwood Avenue (324 North Hartford Avenue). The hospital is to be a wood-frame building constructed without cost to the city with lumber donated or purchased by the American Red Cross. The article states that the hospital will be relinquished by the Red Cross to the community when relief efforts have ceased. The hospital became known as the Maurice Willows Hospital. |
