Newspaper clipping from the Tulsa Daily World (morning first edition), published June 1, 1921, and entitled "Governor Acts to Stop Rioting." This article provides information concerning the Oklahoma National Guard's response to a request of troops by the Tulsa chief of police during the Tulsa Race Massacre. The article reports that when the National Guard arrived in Tulsa, the troops first dispersed a mob of Caucasian men attempting to break into the armory to seize arms and ammunition. Citizens cheered during the National Guards' appearance on Tulsa streets. |
