Forty-two page report entitled "Additional Water Supply for the City of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1947," prepared by engineers William Rea Holway, Victor H. Cochrane, and E. L. Filby for presentation to the city commission of the City of Tulsa on November 7, 1947. The report fulfills the commission's wishes to study a desirable solution to the city's long-term water problems and projecting the water requirements for the next twenty-five years. The first few pages of the report provide a summary of the water recommendations, which propose a project estimated at $15 million dollars. The report contains the following sections: a history of the original Spavinaw Project, additions to the water system from 1924 to 1947, a forecast of water requirements for 1947 to 1972, the recommended project including the development of Spavinaw Creek and raising the hight of the existing Spavinaw Dam, conduits from Spavinaw to Mohawk Park, other suggested plans, and other parts of the water system. The report also contains various tables containing calculations and graphs. The final plate contains a map of the entire Spavinaw water system from Spavinaw Lake to Tulsa. |
