Newspaper clipping from the editorial page of the Tulsa Daily World published July 10, 1921 and entitled "In Defense Of Home And Neighbors." This editorial condemns the recent issues of another Tulsa daily newspaper that the editor does not mention by name, but is obviously the Tulsa Tribune. The editor states that the "Tulsa paper" has "lost no opportunity to side with the outside enemies of the town on every conceivable occasion. It has found everything in Tulsa wrong through ignorance or wrong through criminality." In this article, the editor of the Tulsa Daily World comes to the defense of Tulsa and praises its government, citizens, and law enforcement. The editor also lists the functions of a newspaper as two-fold: "to print without impartially and without garbling the news of the day . . . and to comment on that news intelligently and criticize constructively." The editor also criticizes the Tulsa Tribune's reporting of the findings of the grand jury convened to investigate the Tulsa Race Massacre. |
