Framed poster measuring 22.5" x 29" advertising the Oklahoma Indian Ballerina Festival for Oklahoma's bicentennial. The performance was held at the Tulsa Municipal Theater on October 18-19, 1957. The poster contains eight black and white photographs of ballet dancers: Moscelyne Larkin, Yvonne Chouteau, Maria Tallchief, Roman Jasinski, Andre Eglevsky, and Rosella Hightower. This item belonged to Tulsa artist Jay O'Meilia. O'Meilia created a sculpture of a Native American ballerina that now stands on the green in front of BOK Tower in Tulsa. Tulsa commissioners gave this poster to Jay O'Meilia for use as reference material during the creation of the sculpture. |
