Newspaper clipping from the Tulsa Daily World published July 26, 1921 and entitled "Enforce Fire Laws; Reconstruction Committee Will Not Change Stand in Matter of Rebuilding Negro District." This article reports that the Reconstruction Committee will order that all individuals constructing new buildings in the African American community devastated by the Tulsa Race Massacre must build them to conform with the new fire ordinances extended to that section of the city. The ordinance approves the erection of tents with wooden floors and sides only as emergency shelter under the supervision of the American Red Cross. |
