Newspaper clipping from the Tulsa Daily World published June 7, 1921, and entitled "Refugee Feeding Is Systematized; End Lining Up of Negroes for Food and Clothing; Use Card Now." This article reports on the progress made by the American Red Cross in the five days of relief effort to African Americans following the event now known as the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Maurice Willows, the director of relief, states that the organization has moved from a mass relief effort to a businesslike and individual relief effort in five days. The article also states that African Americans who are able to pay for medical services must do so. The report states that both medical and dental clinics for African Americans are located at the Booker T. Washington High School. Also, an emergency hospital is located at 510 North Main Street. |
