Scrapbook containing 242 pages and compiled by Glenn Condon of Tulsa, OK. The items affixed to the scrapbook pages date from 1911 to 1929, however the majority of the items range in date from 1913 to 1923. The scrapbook measures 11.5" x 16" and contains numerous newspaper clippings, many of which feature newspaper articles written by Condon. The scrapbook also contains one tintype, and numerous photographs of Glenn Condon and family members. Several of the images depict Condon in his World War I uniform. The pages also contain correspondence and documents, a good number of which Condon received while serving in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Military documents include one roster citing the Condon's promotion from a private to a sergeant and discharge paperwork from the United States Marine Corps. The scrapbook also contains various certificates and mementos, such as Condon's certificate of promotion to high school. Page 239 of the scrapbook contains a special issue of the Tulsa World newspaper published 4,000 feet above the ground on October 20, 1911 and dropped to spectators at the Tulsa Fairgrounds. The headline of the paper states that the newspaper was the first to be published in mid-air. The inside front cover of the scrapbook contains a large, folded poster advertising a musical performance by Cora Youngblood Corson's band. |
