Limited-edition print of a mural at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Courtesy of Prentice Hall, The Oklahoma Bar Association and Capitol Photographer, Stuart Ostler. Print number 4435/5000. Charles Banks Wilson was commissioned to paint the mural, entitled Non-Indian Settlement, 1870-1906, by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1970. The original mural is oil on linen canvas, mounted on fiberglass with hot wax resin adhesive. The painting depicts a train overflowing with and surrounded by eager settlers, drawn to the area by the Land Run of 1889. In the center of the mural a man atop a horse waves a banner reading "Go Forth And Possess The Promised Land". |
