Limited-edition print of a mural at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Courtesy of Prentice Hall, The Oklahoma Bar Association and Capitol Photographer, Stuart Ostler. Print number 4435/5000. Charles Banks Wilson was commissioned to paint the mural, entitled Indian Immigration, 1820-1885, by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1970. The original mural is oil on linen canvas, mounted on fiberglass with hot wax resin adhesive. The painting depicts the tension between various Native American tribes as they were forced into the same area. Also depicted are armed federal troops that were sent to restrain tribal warfare. |
