Reproduction, black & white photograph measuring 3.5" x 5" of an image from the first edition of the book "Events of the Tulsa Disaster" by Mary E. Jones Parrish. The photograph depicts Mary Elizabeth Jones Parrish, author of "Events of the Tulsa Disaster" which was published in 1922. Her work was a first-hand account of events during the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. She graduated from the shorthand department of Rochester Business Institute in Rochester, NY. In Tulsa, she ran the Mary Jones Parrish School located at 103 1/2 North Greenwood Avenue. The school taught typewritting and shorthand. |
