Description |
Color, 35 mm, roll film negative containing three images from a trip that retraced the Trail of Tears. The images show some of the bicycling gear used by the youth who participated. Sixteen high school and college-age Oklahoma Cherokees with about nine support personnel walked, biked and canoed from Cherokee, N.C., to Stilwell, OK as part of the Remember the Removal Project of the Cherokee Nation. The students, who were chosen through a competitive essay and required to be in top physical shape, represented the seventh generation since their ancestors were forced to leave their eastern homes. The location of the images is unknown. |
