Black and white photograph measuring 7" x 5" and depicting a street scene at the intersection of 2nd Street and South Main Street in Tulsa, OK. The image shows a trolley at the intersection passing the two-story Scott Building, where the National Bank of Commerce began business. First National Bank is visible on the left at 124 South Main Street in Tulsa, OK. The building was situated on the northwest corner of the intersection of South Main Street and 2nd Street. Architect J. H. Bennett of Tulsa designed the building. H. J. Vandenberg of Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory served as the building contractor. Construction of the brick, five-story building began in April 1905 and cost approximately $100,000. The bank opened to the public on June 27, 1906. The bank remained at this location for nearly ten years before the bank opened a new building at 9 East 4th Street on April 19, 1919. |
