Description |
Color, digital photograph depicting a portion of a bronze sculpture of Osage ballerina Marjorie Tallchief (1927-2021). The sculpture is one of five depicting Native American ballerinas created by artists Monte England and Gary Henson. Known as the "Five Moons" the sculptures were a gift of Charles and Peggy Stephenson and Billie and Howard Barnett to the Tulsa Historical Society & Museum. Installation of the sculptures occurred in 2007 on the west lawn of the museum. During the night of April 28, 2022, the Marjorie Tallchief sculpture was stolen from the grounds of the museum. On May 2, pieces of the sculpture were discovered at a local recycling center where the thief sold the metal for scrap. |
