The class was in preparation for the second Tulsa Indian Arts Festival, sponsored by the American Indian Theater Association March 18-20, 1988, at the Exposition Center of the Tulsa Fairgrounds. The purpose of the arts festival was to preserve, express and present the heritage, creativity and contributions of the American Indian. Education drove a large part of the festival's activities, as dances, storytelling and craft demonstrations were highlighted. A juried art show featured works by some of the best known Native American artists of the day. |
