The Tulsa Community Chest, earlier known as the Tulsa War Chest and later the Tulsa Area United Way, was a fundraising organization started by a group of local businessmen in 1924. During World War II they raised funds to support local agencies and international relief organizations. The writing on the back of the print indicates that the budget for this campaign had been $491,000, and they raised approximately $520,000. In the photo, seven of the men are standing and two are crouched down. The man crouched on the left is holding a flag that says: "Victory Tulsa War Chest - 1943". |
