Color, 35 mm, roll film negative containing three images of dancer Robert Anquoe in colorful regalia at the Tulsa Powwow at Mohawk Park in Tulsa, OK, on July 14, 1983. Featured dancers included the following: James Reeder, head feather; John Norman, head straight; Yogi Bread, head traditional; Rena Rose Youngbear, head lady; Jack Anquoe, head singer; Leonard Cozad, Jr., head gourd dance singer; Marva Windyboy, head Northern traditional. Keepers of the drums included the following: Warny Anquoe, Neall Profabitty, and Robbie Anquoe. Kiowa Indian Kenneth Anquoe (1920-1989) founded the annual event. The Tulsa Powwow began in 1951 at Lakeview Park at 3829 North Columbia Avenue in Tulsa. By the 1990s, the powwow grew to a four-day event with a budget of $93,000 which included dancing, arts, and crafts. |
