Description |
Black & white, 35 mm, roll film negative containing three images of participants and spectators at the 31st annual Tulsa Powwow, held July 15-18, 1982 at Mohawk Park in Tulsa, OK. Some of the individuals participating included the following: Bennetta Reeder; Herb Adsen, and Tonekei. Head dancers included Mike Pratt, Raymond Lasley, Jr., Crickett Shields, Jamie Asa Franklin and Joe Cozard. Keepers of the drums included Warny Anquoe, Neall Profabitty, and Robert Anquoe. Kiowa Indian Kenneth Anquoe (1920-1989) founded the annual event. The Tulsa Powwow began in 1951 at Lakeview Park at 3829 North Columbia Avenue in Tulsa. By the 1990s, the powwow grew to a four-day event at Mohawk Park which included dancing, arts, and crafts. |
