Black & white photograph measuring 10" x 8" and depicting Lawrence Richard "Lon" Stansbery and friends dressed in Native American clothing and posed near the McBirney pond. The J. H. McBirney home was located at 1414 Galveston Avenue in Tulsa. The back of the photograph contains an inscription identifing four of the five individuals as including: Fannie Mae Knight Clinton (Mrs. Paul Clinton), Dorothy McBirney Hardy (daughter of J. H. McBirney), Tooka Belstead Stansbery, and Lawrence Richard "Lon" Stansbery. In July 1924, Dorothy McBirney was named American Indian Queen at the first Indian Convention held in Tulsa, OK. McBirney was of mixed-blood Muscogee Creek heritage. |
