Description |
Color sheet film negative measuring 5" x 4" and depicting the left side of "The History of Oil," a mural exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC, circa 1968. The "History of Oil" mural at Tulsa International Airport is a 13-foot by 56-foot painting titled "Panorama of Petroleum," created by artist Delbert L. Jackson (1915 - 1982). Originally displayed at the Smithsonian Institution in 1967, it was put into storage for three decades after the exhibit closed. The mural was restored and installed at the Tulsa airport in 1998 after being recovered by the Gilcrease Museum. |
