Description |
Black & white photograph measuring 6.75" x 4.5" and depicting a group of young girls from Brook & Elliott School dressed as ballerinas and dancing in front of an unidentified residence. Two of the dancers include Martha McBirney (1906-1980) and Ruth Lyon Clinton (1907-1998). Martha McBirney was the daughter of James Hugh McBirney and Vera Mary Clinton McBirney. Ruth Clinton was the daughter of Lee Clinton and Susan B. Merrill Clinton. Brock & Elliott School was a private kindergarten established by Melva Brock and Clara Elliott in the basement of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, located on the southeast corner of the intersection of 5th Street and South Boston Avenue. The school later moved to 909 South Cheyenne Avenue. |
