Description |
Black and white photograph measuring 10" x 8" and depicting the First National Bank, located at 124 South Main Street in Tulsa, Creek Nation. A banner hangs above the street reading, "Base Ball To Day." The building was situated on the northwest corner of the intersection of South Main Street and 2nd Street. Architect J. H. Bennett of Tulsa designed it. H. J. Vandenberg of Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory served as the building contractor. Construction of the brick, five-story building began in April 1905 and it cost approximately $100,000. The bank opened to the public on June 27, 1906. It remained at this location for nearly ten years before the bank opened a new building at 9 East 4th Street on April 19, 1919. |
