Description |
Color, 35 mm, roll film negative containing three images from a trip that retraced the Trail of Tears. The first two images show six of the youth who participated in the trip as they wait in line for a meal. The third image shows them filling their plates. Sixteen high school and college-age Oklahoma Cherokees with about nine support personnel walked, biked and canoed from Cherokee, N.C., to Stilwell, OK as part of the Remember the Removal Project of the Cherokee Nation. The students, who were chosen through a competitive essay and required to be in top physical shape, represented the seventh generation since their ancestors were forced to leave their eastern homes. The location of the images is unknown. |
