Description |
Color, 35 mm, transparency slide depicting the Georgian Revival-style mansion of Lionel Elial Zeral Aaronson (1864-1924) and his wife, Cynthia Thelma Rozshik Aaronson (1865-1946), located at 1151 East 24th Place in Tulsa, OK. Aaronson was secretary and treasurer of Tuloma Oil Company. The Tulsa architecture firm of Atkinson & Olston designed the house. When the house was completed in 1917, the address was 1151 East 23rd Street. The address later changed to 1151 East 24th Place. The mansion contained more than twenty rooms, including a spacious billiards room on the third floor. A few years later, a private chapel was constructed on the west elevation of the house. In 1926, the house sold to Charles Lucien McMahon (1874-1946) and his wife, Mays Cleveland Jacobs McMahon (1887-1952). Later owners included the following: Frank Grant McClintock, Byron S. Matthews, musician Leon Russell (also known as Claude Russell Bridges), and Charles Homes. Russell owned the home from 1973 to 1977. The mansion was demolished on November 6, 1987. |
