Black & white photograph measuring 4.5" x 2.75" and depicting thin smoke rising from the Greenwood District of Tulsa, OK on June 1, 1921, during the event known as the Tulsa Race Massacre. The image looks northeast from the top of the Dreyfus Brothers Wholesale Grocery building, located at 2-8 North Elgin Avenue. The business was owned by four Dreyfus brothers: Asher, Gabe, Henry, and Morris. A horse-drawn ice wagon is visible in the left foreground. The center of the image shows numerous people walking the streets and surveying the damage. |
