Black & white photograph measuring 4.5" x 2.75" taken during the Tulsa Race Massacre on June 1, 1921 from the Cosden Building, located at 409 South Boston Avenue in Tulsa, OK. The photograph depicts a northeasterly view with huge plumes of black smoke rising from the Greenwood District in the distance. The railroad tracks of the Saint Louis & San Francisco "Frisco" Railway are visible running horizontally through the image. The lower margin of the photograph contains a printed caption reading, "Bird's eye view of the 'Burning of Little Africa, 6/1/21.'" |
