Description |
Black & white snapshot measuring 4.5" x 2.75" and depicting a house or barn destroyed by a tornado on May 4, 1934. The tornado demolished about thirty homes between Tulsa and Broken Arrow, OK. The twister struck the community of Alsuma about 3 pm just south of Union Consolidated School No. 2 and killed three people: Andrew J. Tackett, age 59; Annie Tacket, age 53; and Grady Pinkard, age 32. An inscription on the back of the photograph states, "Damage caused by tornado May 4, 1934 between Broken Arrow & Tulsa. 3 killed, 20 injured, 30 homes destroyed, 120 children homeless." |
