Reproduction, black & white photograph measuring 7" x 5" and depicting South Main Street in Tulsa, OK. The image was taken in 1917 during the Tulsa Annual Industrial Durbar. The tracks of the Saint Louis & San Francisco "Frisco" Railway are visible in the foreground at the very bottom. The photograph shows the metal "Tulsa archway" spanning Main Street located in front of the National Supply Company located at 9 South Main. The Archer Building, located at 19 South Main is also visible on the left side of the image. The building contained Dick Bardon's loan office and the Continental Supply Company. On the same side of the street the following businesses are visible: the Lyric Theatre at 103 South Main, the Boswell Building at 123 South Main containing A. Y. Boswell jewelry store and Hotel Boswell. The tall building under construction in the left background is the Exchange National Bank building. On the right side of the photograph in the foreground are the metal roofed buildings of the Oil Well Supply Company at 10-12 South Main. Also visible is the Johnson-Eaton Building at 14 South Main containing a sign advertising the Alva Rooms. Also seen on this building is a banner advertising the coming of the Sells-Floto Circus on May 1. Street car tracks are visible in the middle of street, with two workers repairing the crossing in the immediate foreground. |
