Color, 35 mm, transparency slide depicting the western elevation of the Shell Building, located at 1800 South Baltimore Avenue in Tulsa, OK. Construction of the building began in 1956 and continued for eighteen months. The architectural firm of McCune, McCune, and McCune designed the building, with M. Murray McCune serving as the principal architect. Gordon A. McCune served as engineer. The building cost in excess of $2 million dollars and included ten floors with a three-floor penthouse. Occupancy occurred in June 1957, with the building serving as the exploration and production headquarters of Shell Oil Company. The ground floor also included Sol Shore Restaurant. |
