Description |
Black and white photograph measuring 10" x 8" and depicting the beginning excavation for the Halliburton-Abbott Building, located at 500 South Boulder Avenue, Tulsa, OK, on January 28, 1929. The building was constructed in 1929 in the Art Deco style for the Halliburton-Abbott Department Store. The building was later known as the Sears Building and later the Skaggs Building. It was demolished in 1980. Also visible in the photograph are Michealis Cafe (located at 507 South Boulder Avenue), Hotel Boulder (507 1/2 South Boulder Avenue), the Cadillac Hotel (509 1/2 South Boulder Avenue), Tulsa County Court House (521 South Boulder Avenue), and the tower of the Boston Avenue Methodist Church in the distance. The highrise building directly south of the excavation site is the Medical and Dental Arts Building, located at 106 West 8th Street. |
