Color, digital photograph depicting a group of volunteers and guests from the Tulsa Historical Society & Museum on the steps of the Church Studio, located at 304 South Trenton Avenue in Tulsa, OK. Front row (left to right): Susan Yates, Rebecca Hatchett, Pati Wilson, and Celeste Siegfried Bendel. Second row: Pete Watkins, James A. "Jim" Walker, Bill Cantrell, unidentified, Wyn Dee Baker, Loyd Ingham, Jane Waligora, Margo Mitchell, and Barbara Slagel. Third row: Larry Bartley, Diane Allen, Sharon Bickle, Janice Blankenship, Leslie Livingston, Donna Stone, and Donna Hart. Fourth row: Savanah Bandy, Britni Pelton Worley, Patti Sellers, and Grace Taylor Asher. Fifth row: Mary E. King Vogt, Lorretta Bertalot, Aaron Schoenfeldt, Robert "Bob" Buchanan, and Linda Berrey. Bruce Sands stands at the back. In 1915, the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church completed a church building at this location. In 1928, it became the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. In 1972, musician Leon Russell purchased the building and converted it into a recording studio and office for Shelter Records. Numerous artists recorded at the studio including the following: Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, J. J. Cale, and the GAP Band. On September 8, 2017, the Church Studio was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2021, the building was renovated as a museum and recording studio. |
