Frank Brown served as the first mayor of Red Fork, and his brother Mug Brown served on the board of trustees. In 1904, Frank Brown drilled his first oil well, and thereafter engaged in the oil business. He was also a member of the government surveying party which laid out the townsites of Red Fork, Kellyville, and Bixby. In 1904, he helped construct the first wagon bridge to span the Arkansas River at Tulsa, Creek Nation. In 1906, he was elected the mayor of Red Fork. In 1908, he was elected a township trustee and held that office until it was abolished in 1914. The Brown brothers also worked for Uncle Sam Refinery, located near the west bank of the Arkansas River at Tulsa, OK. In April 1928, Frank Brown was elected Tulsa Street Commissioner and served in that office from May 1928 to May 1930. He later served as Tulsa Police Commissioner from May 1936 to May 1938. Frank Brown died August 25, 1950 at age seventy-seven in his home, located at 3911 South 29th West Avenue in Red Fork. |
