Description |
Framed wall hanging measuring 15.25" x 13" and containing an original stock certificate from the Tulsa Commercial Bridge Company of Tulsa, Indian Territory dated May 9, 1904. The certificate certifies that George T. Williamson owns 200 shares of the capital stock of the company. The certificate is signed by Williamson as president of the company. It is not numbered. It also contains the signature of secretary Melville B. Baird. The certificate is not numbered. J. D. Hagler, George Williamson, and Melville B. Baird financed the construction of this toll bridge with their own money by forming the Tulsa Commercial Bridge Company. The bridge opened for use on January 2, 1904 becoming the first wagon bridge in Tulsa, Creek Nation to span the Arkansas River. |
